Planning a Sourcing Trip to Bhadohi: The Buyer’s Itinerary

Working looms of the kind visitors see in Bhadohi

You can build a rug import business without visiting India — but one trip to the carpet belt will teach you more than a year of emails. Buyers who visit order with more confidence, negotiate from knowledge, and build relationships that survive problems. Here is how to plan the trip well.

Getting There

Bhadohi sits in eastern Uttar Pradesh between Varanasi and Prayagraj. The practical route is a flight to Varanasi's international airport, then roughly an hour and a half by road. Varanasi also rewards a day of your itinerary — few business trips come with a five-thousand-year-old city attached.

What to Do at Each Factory

  • Walk the full line: yarn store, dyeing, looms or tufting frames, latexing, washing, finishing, QC, packing. A vertically integrated factory shows you everything; gaps in the tour are information too.
  • Handle product at every stage — half-finished rugs teach you construction faster than any article.
  • Review live orders (with client names covered) to see real quality standards, not showroom pieces.
  • Sit down over the numbers: face-to-face is where MOQ flexibility, sampling terms and payment structure get genuinely negotiated.

Practical Notes

Plan two to three days for factory visits, carry design references and colour standards, and schedule appointments in advance — the good factories are working factories, not showrooms with walk-in hours. October to March is the comfortable season, and timing a trip around the India Carpet Expo doubles its value.

Visitors have been finding us in Bhadohi since 1979, and a factory tour is the best sales argument we own. Tell us your travel window and we will arrange the visit end to end.
