Every bespoke carpet order at Deepak Carpets follows a structured journey — from the first conversation about requirements to the final QC check before export packaging. Here is what that journey looks like.
Stage 1: Design Brief
The process begins with a detailed brief: dimensions, pile technique (hand-tufted, handloom, flatweave), fibre type, pile height, colour palette, and pattern reference. We welcome Pantone references, mood boards, architectural drawings, or rough sketches — whatever helps communicate the vision.
Stage 2: Design Development
Our in-house design team translates the brief into a technical layout — a scaled design that maps colour zones, pattern repeats, and pile direction onto the canvas of the rug. For complex patterns, we produce a digital rendering for approval before any production begins.
Stage 3: Sampling
For new designs or unfamiliar colour combinations, we produce a sample swatch or small-scale sample rug for approval. This step catches any colour or texture mismatches before full-scale production and is a standard part of our bespoke process.
Stage 4: Production
Once the design and sample are approved and advance payment received, production commences. Our craftsmen work to the approved design layout, with periodic supervisory checks to ensure accuracy and consistency throughout the production run.
Stage 5: Finishing
Post-production finishing is where a good rug becomes a great one. This stage includes latexing, secondary backing, shearing to the correct pile height, washing, stretching, and drying. Every step is done in-house at our Bhadohi facility.
Stage 6: Quality Control & Dispatch
Before packaging, every rug is inspected for dimensional accuracy, pile consistency, colour matching, and structural integrity. Approved rugs are rolled, wrapped, and packed for export according to the buyer's shipping requirements and international freight standards.
The typical lead time for a bespoke order ranges from 6 to 12 weeks depending on complexity, quantity, and current production schedules. We keep buyers informed at key milestones throughout.
